A Day in the Life of a LA Blogging Intern

Hi! Thanks for stopping by Vogue and a Latte <3 Would love to keep up with you on social media so shoot me a DM and we can chat like bffs.

If you have been following me for a while, thank you!!!! And also that means you know how I have moved around a bunch and have been changing up the job scene. Well, now I am now back in SoCal and have actually been loving every single second of life.

I recently have had the opportunity to become an intern for the fabulous writer and blogger, Caitlyn Chase of Caviar & Cashmere. Follow her at @CaitlynChase because she is actually the coolest, and she posts about me on her Insta 😉

I’m sure that a lot of you are wondering how I got this gig since many of you are probably bloggers. So here is some BTS action. Tbh, I don’t exactly remember how I got to her Instagram page… I think I was on the explore page or had found myself in a stalking/engagement hole and ended up on her profile because she was at an event. I started watching her story because I loved her feed and she just so happened to be talking on her Insta about looking for an intern! I was like, “Omg, what are the odds?!” I wasn’t actually looking for an internship. I had thought about it a lot but wasn’t actively searching because I wasn’t sure where to begin really. Once I saw her post that story, I was like, “YES, I want this.”

I sent her a DM saying that I was super interested in interning for her and she responded back asking me to send my resume and cover letter. I rounded up my resume and typed up a cover letter and sent it all her way. I definitely thought to myself, “She is probably going to have tons of candidates applying… she’s totally not gonna pick me or even respond to my email.” After a day or two ( I think ), I got an email back asking to chat over the phone so she could ask me some questions. I was thrilled! We chose a time and chatted for about 45 minutes and I totally thought we clicked and hit it off. I guess I was right because that same night she texted me letting me know that she would love to have me as her intern! I was shocked and so excited, let me tell you why: Caitlyn has been written up in incredible magazines like Vogue & Glamour. She is launching her own skincare line, on her own, in July and is the most inspiring, motivated person to be around. She is established and knows so many people in the industry. She writes for a purpose and loves to connect with her followers/readers. She is always looking to write and create and always trying to work towards being the best. She has class, is amazing at networking, and has welcomed me with open arms into this world. That is key. She has been the nicest, kindest mentor and I am so lucky to be able to work with her and learn from her.

PRO TIP: Get an internship if you want to be a blogger. Blogging is all about connections and who you know. Search for bloggers you love and DM them and ask if they need or want an intern to help with LITERALLY anything. Be available and be helpful, at all times.

Let’s dive into Tuesday. I had been chatting with Caitlyn and doing some outreach for her remotely before I got here so Tuesday was actually the first day that we met in real life. Instagram really is amazing.

Caitlyn and I met up at Soho House in West Hollywood ( it was everything you think it would be and more ). I broke the no photos rule and snuck a pic of our view because it was UNREAL – whoops. We got a table on the patio and ordered tea and iced coffee and started getting to know each other. It was a blast. We ate lunch, talked more, then opened our computers and started talking about her skincare launch and everything on the to-do list, including the guest list. Let me just tell you and I am SO excited and honored that I am going to be at an event with some of these people who are attending… will give more details when I am allowed to. I continued brand outreach and working on some other tasks that she let me in on and we worked and chatted away. The view was INCREDIBLE and I can’t wait to go back.

I am 100% owning up to the fact that I was in awe of everything that we did! I think that sometimes that makes it more special. Someone who has experienced the whole blogging world and all of its perks may not think that it is as cool or work as hard for the reward. Idk, maybe that’s just me, but I definitely want to fully own that I am taking in every moment of this world that so many girls are working their asses off for.

We rounded up our things and headed down to grab Caitlyn’s car from valet and head to a home in Beverly Hills where the Nasty Gal Pool Party was taking place. Yea, it was just as cool as it sounds. We pulled up to the driveway and let the valet boys take her car and checked into the party. The house was amazing and all of the “stations” that were set-up were kind of unreal. There were real poodles under a cabana to take photos with. There was a real tattoo artist giving out tattoos. There was a fruit stand that cut up any fruit you want. They had CBD lemonade and infused skin care products. There was kombucha and rosé and vegan burgers. Like, you guys, I can’t even explain how cool I felt at this party. There were gift bags and free goodies all over the place and we ( and by “we” I mean “I” ) took TONS of pictures of the event. The details were perfect, even down to the clear beach balls that were blown up and floating around the pool with “nasty gal” plastered all over them. Caitlyn and I took turns taking pictures of each other and she introduced me to everyone that she knew there… INCLUDING PAYTON SARTAIN. Y’all.  If you know me and have been following me you know that this moment does not compare to anything else in my life. And I have met and hung out with Nick Jonas… twice. There were tons of other huge bloggers walking around and literally I couldn’t have cared less. Payton said she thought we had previously met ( I wish )!!! We follow each other on Insta and DM occasionally but we hadn’t officially met so that was the coolest moment of the day. I can actually die happy now. Caitlyn was probably embarrassed by how starstruck I was, but “chill” was not an option for me at that moment in time.

I was fangirling so hard as we left the party to hop into her car and head to the next event. We had to make a pit stop at her house for a quick change since she was wearing a dress by the brand who was hosting the next event. It took us about 30 minutes to go a mile and get to EP & LP where the We Are Kindred event was taking place on the rooftop. Part of the rooftop is the Melrose Rooftop Theater which has an awesome summer screening series going on and is showing movies all summer long. The event was cool, lots of people mingling and chatting but it definitely had a different vibe than the previous party. There was a pretty flower wall photo booth and fancy drinks floating around while people took photos and viewed the resort collection that the brand was launching. We took pictures and laughed at how exhausted we were and learned about a new Insta story feature. Tbh it felt like I had known Caitlyn for forever and I was just overwhelmed by how hospitable and kind she was throughout the whole day, not because I didn’t expect it, but because it would have been so easy for her not to be.

We had a third event scheduled to go to but by that point, we were over fake smiling and networking and wanted to head home. We said our goodbyes, actually, we didn’t, we snuck out of there so no one would notice us leaving, LOL. Then we grabbed her car and headed back to Soho House so I could get my car and head South on the 405. With no shame I grabbed a large fry from McDonald’s for the drive home bc I was starving and can only be fancy for so long LOL.

Well now that I have typed my fingers off and talked your ear off, I hope that you have caught a glimpse into what a day in the life of an LA blogging intern is like!! Most days Caitlyn and I are texting back and forth little business details or things I need to include when responding to emails – stuff like that. But there are other days that have a little more excitement and I can’t wait to share more of them with you all.

If you loved this post and want more, I would be SO happy to share! Send me a quick DM letting me know if you want more posts like this that fill you in on all of the deets. I also LOVE all kinds of blogger questions. I get so many questions every day from you guys and I am thinking I should compile them all into a long post that I can keep reposting and adding to that answers any and all questions!

Caitlyn is going on a trip for work so she will be out of town for a little while and then I will be in Boston for the Fourth of July so when we are both back in CA we will hit the ground running for the C&C Skincare launch.

Follow along on socials ( @MadisonCrowley ) to enjoy the fun and be a part of my every day, it’s like my favorite part of what I get to do.

‘Til next time,Autumn in November
